Overview of GAT General

The Graduate Assessment Test (GAT™ - GENERAL) is a standardized evaluation required for candidates seeking admission to MS, M.Phil, or equivalent post-graduate degree programs across public and private sector universities in Pakistan.

This test evaluates verbal, quantitative, and analytical reasoning abilities to determine a candidate's readiness for advanced graduate-level study and research.

Validity Period: GAT General test results remain valid for admissions for a period of TWO (2) YEARS.

Eligibility Criteria & Rules

  • Candidates must possess a minimum of 16 years of education (Bachelor's or Master's degree) in the relevant discipline.
  • Candidates aiming to improve their previous GAT score are eligible to re-appear.
  • Final selection depends on fulfilling specific university-level academic criteria alongside the GAT score.

Test Pattern & Paper Distribution

The paper consists of 100 MCQs divided into three primary categories based on the candidate's academic background:

Registration Procedure

  1. Register an account on the NTS online candidate registration system.
  2. Fill out personal and educational details along with profile photograph.
  3. Select the appropriate GAT Test Type (GAT-A, GAT-B, GAT-C, or GAT-D) corresponding to your degree background.
  4. Deposit the test fee using the online challan/1Link electronic payment methods.
  5. Submit application form before the announced closing date.

Important Instructions for Test Day

  • Bring your printed Roll Number Slip along with your original CNIC / Passport.
  • Report to the exam center at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled test time.
